We are carefully separating a block with several hundreds of adults and juvenile tiger worms (Eisenia foetida) with capsules, baby worms, and their natural bedding. The number of capsules and worms may vary according to the season.

By harvesting a block out of the worm farm with the worms embedded we minimise the stress for the worms. We don’t like using strong UV light and machines to force worms out of their bedding before counting and repacking them.

You occasionally may find a few other worm species in your worm package. You just place the worm bedding with the worms in your worm farm and the worm farm is ready to go.

For the HungryBin worm farm we recommend applying a bag or two of mature compost into the worm farm first, water the compost well and place your worms with the bedding on top.

We are harvesting your worms every Monday or Tuesday. This way your worms won’t get stuck in transit over the weekend.
